Jay Strubberg - Newsy
Jay Strubberg is a producer and host of "The Briefing," Newsy's afternoon program that explores the day's biggest stories in a mostly headline-news format with context, analysis and live look-ins on major events. He strives to present news in an easily digestible yet informed and objective way. Jay's field work includes coverage of the 2018 United Nations General Assembly in New York City and the 2016 Missouri primary elections. He's interviewed numerous people, including speaking with a United Nations spokesperson about the global climate crisis, a CDC behavioral scientist about suicide rates, and a gang leader turned outreach worker in Chicago who's trying to reduce violence in his city. Jay has also hosted events, including one for the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, "Breaking the News: Trust in the Age of Digital Media." And he's the backup host of Newsy's flagship show, "The Why." Prior to his career with Newsy, Jay was an on-air host for the Zimmer Radio Group. He's a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and earned a certificate of broadcasting arts, TV and radio from the Broadcast Center of St. Louis. Jay's advice to aspiring journalists: Frame your questions wisely and listen keenly. Jay hopes to one day interview Jon Stewart, the legendary political satirist who inspired him to pursue a career in journalism.
