Prosecutors in Paris are currently investigating whether the recent fire at the historic Notre Dame Cathedral may have been caused by an electrical short-circuit.

According to CNN, a source involved in the proceedings said the potential short-circuit line of inquiry is just one of many angles currently being pursued regarding the possible cause of the blaze. And though they believe the fire was accidental, officials have not ruled out the possibility that the fire was set on purpose.

The investigation into the cause of the Notre Dame fire began Tuesday, and at least 40 employees of the cathedral have already been interviewed.

According to The Associated Press, investigators still can't enter the cathedral and search through the rubble due to safety concerns.

French President Emmanuel Macron has said that he'd like to see the historic cathedral rebuilt within five years.
