"The Day Ahead" is looking at the combined effect of untreated mental illness and weak police training. By examining a number of incidents in which people with mental health disorders were killed by police, we are able to shine a light on the topic of mental health — but also question how much more training law enforcement needs.
People With Mental Illness Are More Likely To Encounter Police
A lack of police training combined with a lack of treatment for people with mental illness is resulting in more and more encounters gone wrong.
