The 50s and 60s were considered the "golden age" of commercial air travel. 

The grand old days, when attendants dressed up as if flying was a glamorous occasion. 

Historians told the Boston Globe the rich and famous boarded flights in clothes fit for cocktail parties. And instead of peanuts, you were served full course meals on fine china. 

There were no fights over arm rests, and legroom was plentiful – at no extra cost. 

But the pomp and circumstance of air travel is long past. What happened?
