The New York Times reported on Friday that federal prosecutors are investigating whether President Donald Trump's attorney, Rudy Giuliani, broke lobbying laws while dealing with Ukraine.

People familiar with the probe told the outlet that investigators are looking into Giuliani's efforts to subvert the former American ambassador to Ukraine. The ambassador was recalled from Kiev recently in the midst of President Trump's attempts to pressure Ukraine into investigating political rival Joe Biden and his son.

The investigation is reportedly tied to the recent indictment of two associates of Giuliani who were detained for campaign finance-related charges involving Ukraine.

President Trump responded to the news on Twitter, calling it "one-sided" and a "witch hunt."

On Saturday, Giuliani told CNN that he was unaware of any investigation into his dealings with Ukraine and called the probe a "political attack."
