No Kid Hungry's texting service connects kids with meals. The service texts kids where they can get nearby food for free.
During the school year, many of these kids can get free or reduced lunch. When kids are out of school in the summer, that gets harder.

The most recent data from 2013 shows kids who are low income make up just over half of all students in public schools.
In 21 states that year, more kids qualified for free or reduced lunch than not.
And while a texting service can locate the nearest free meal, for some kids, transportation and other factors can make that location hard to reach.
But as of last year, the service saw 6 percent more texts compared to 2015.
